Hao and Alison are baking a cake for two parties. Each party has the same amount of cake and everyone gets a specific amount. Everything’s going great until they reach the end where they cut the cake, they then realize that the last person for the second party didn’t tell them how much he wanted. Now they have to create a math problem to find out how much the last person wants.

Three friends decide to bake a yummy cake. They put the cake in the oven and forget to set the timer on the clock -YIKES! They check the cake and they have no idea how much longer the cake needs to stay in the oven. So they check the correct time and count backwards...

At their bakery, cake creators Sara and Linda discover a problem after a cake order for a MathCounts party. Neither baker can determine how much they get paid, but luckily the MathCounts customers are quick with an answer to solve the problem.

Problem 185 - Linda makes 6 cakes per hour. Sara makes 4 cakes per hour. If Linda gets paid $11 less than Sara for each cake, how much in dollars should Sara be paid for each cake for Linda and Sara to earn the same amount each hour?
